@jonschull , about the badges, I agree with you, volunteers may become inactive, but the force of this badge is the extrinsic motivation to get people to create a profile inside EWC.
After that, we will have solid information to reach the volunteers using the profile data from EWC (email, phone number, etc) and work on engagement initiatives.

The experience that is being created on EWC will help improve other aspects of the community, along with the organization of the cases.

We have decided to remove the enforcement of badges within EWC for now. It appears to be too burdensome for users to manage their Credly badges, and people aren't using EWC as a result. For those who choose to use them, Credly badges will still be displayed on a user's profile in EWC, but they will not be enforced - anyone will be able to offer help on any case. This change will be rolled out sometime this week.

I understand, the main issue is that there are people that want to help and are getting stuck.

In the near future, we'll be adding email notifications, configurable in the Profile screen. Options will include:

Send me an email when a new case is created within X miles of my location

Send me an email when I need to take the next step in a case I’m assigned to (or for a device request I created)

Send me an email when one of my active cases is updated

Send me an email when any case has not been updated in X days

Any volunteer will be able to sign up for any of these email notifications.
