#chatControl : European Union wants to search all our online private chats

RVE Renaud Van Eeckhout Public Seen by 28

(en français plus bas) (automatisch in het nederlands vertaald hieronder)

The European Commission is proposing a new legislation that would make it mandatory for companies like Facebook, Google and others to scan all our private conversations and search in it to find content related to child pornography.

Child pornography is of course a problem, but it cannot be solved with such measures. Such invasive measures only exist in totalitarian states. Can you imagine your agents of your post offices opening ALL your letters & packages (also the companies you use to send other packages)? This is clearly unacceptable.

German Pirate MEP Patrick Breyer wrote an article about it for (a lot) more details: https://www.patrick-breyer.de/?page_id=594160&lang=en It's in English for now (I am working on translating it in French).

What do we do? I propose a few concrete actions, please step in and/or propose more actions if you have the possibility :
- translate Patrick Breyer's article in other languages : French & Dutch (so that he can publish it and we too)
- publish the translated articles on our website and share them where we can (social media + newsletter)
- contact Belgian MEPs to know their position on this matter and give them arguments to make them change their mind if necessary (it appears that all EU groups except Green and Left support it, so there is a lot of work...)
- contact the media to tell them to cover the issue
- send a press communiqué
- create flyers to inform citizens
- more ideas?

Dergelijke indringende maatregelen bestaan alleen in totalitaire staten.

The translation to French is almost done, it just needs proofchecking : https://pad.parley.be/p/chatcontrol
