Is there a rich person or entity that you would trust buying Twitter?

Maybe there are good rich people. Maybe this person can do the purchase and give the high bid then resell it to a twitter cooperative where everyone contributes by buying shares of the company. The share holders will have a union. The users will have a decentralized democratic governance system.

There are no good rich people. No.

@Moxy, While i enjoyed a good laugh at @priscillagrim's joke, i know plenty of good rich people, who do great things with their wealth. The problem here is it would take a REALLY rich person to buy enough shares of TWTR; someone who would gamble on a minimum investment of 6.6 billion. Its too much of a stretch, IMHO.

The key is going to be bringing Twitter employees into the plotting and planning of forming the cooperative.

Hey, @moxy!

Haha and yes, actually. And as @priscillagrim and @rachaellamkin said, there are challenges.

One promising approach is to get a large enough bloc of shareholders that a solid proposal has standing. It may not be "irresistible" by force or majority share, but we may not need that. We don't know yet what the opposition looks like, or how entrenched they are.

Here's something happening in-line with bringing Twitter shareholders and staff on board, an event tomorrow and a move to show up in-person -- check out https://www.loomio.org/d/TaMWN2LX
