Introductory Conference Call/Hangout Agenda?

MC Matthew Cropp Public Seen by 131

Reading through everything that's been posted thus-far got me thinking that It'd be good to schedule a google hangout conversation with the agenda of discussing visions, options, and strategies, as well as for the opportunity for those of us who have rallied to the flag to introduce ourselves to each other. Below is the beginning of an agenda for such a call, which I'd aim to keep to 90 minutes; please propose amendments, additions, and/or alternatives in the comments:

-Personal Introductions: Everyone takes up to 2 minutes introducing their backgrounds, the scopes of interest, experience, and skills they bring to the project, and their realistic potential level of involvement, contribution. [30 minutes?]
-Review of Current Status of Potential Deal: Scale, players, latest news, etc. [10 minutes]
-Strategy Options Discussion: Participants summarize ideas on potential strategic approaches to the problem [max 5 minutes per participant, max 30 minutes]
-Formations of working groups to elaborate on proposed strategic approaches, build infrastructure, etc. [10 min]
-Closing thoughts from participants [10 min]

Once we have a sense of what we want to talk about, then let's discuss when...

What's our plan for transparency? How can we hold this meeting in a way that others in the (nascent) community who either can't or don't want to attend can still understand what was discussed and decided? Two options I see are live-streaming/archiving it, and keeping minutes.

You can make a recording of most phone calls and and aso provide a transcription, which costs $60 or so for an hour's call with every uhm and ah transcribed.

Excellent idea. Let's schedule this within the week.

Alright; since he wrote the article and probably has the best holistic sense of the terrain right now for the "Review of Current Status" section, I'd nominate @ntnsndr to determine a few times that would work for him, and then we could doodle those dates to see what would allow for maximum participation.

As to transparency, if we were to do a Google Hangout On Air, that can be set up to both stream live and automatically upload the video to a youtube channel. How do folks feel about that approach?

Thanks for mentioning me here, and I'd love to participate, but I probably can't until after the 17th because of travel. I could possibly do it mid-to-late afternoon this Friday, Mountain Time. We could also try Saturday, though that's not ideal.

If it doesn't fit with my crazy schedule, I would be happy to just hear about it. To be honest, I feel there are others here whose participation is more crucial—people who are better positioned to act on the proposal than I am.

So excited by all this momentum, and I'll continue supporting it as best I can!

Trying to organise a call time that will work for everyone is going to be a nightmare. @matthewcropp and @ntnsndr you should just pick a time (and a video chat platform) and announce it, and whoever can join will join.

Because we have Loomio for decisions, people don't have to worry about being left out before you can just report back on Loomio from the meeting, and raise proposals for any important decisions that emerge.

If others want to schedule other calls at others times, they should also feel free to do so.
