The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), headed by Jeffrey Sachs of the Earth Institute and Columbia University Economist, is leading an initiative called the Sustainable Cities Initiative. I am working with one of the 20 global lead cities, San Jose California, to develop goals that the city can implement that map to the Global Goals, work with other cities in the global network of cities so they all implement their goals, and build and function as a powerful global network of many cities that will serve as a catalyst for the nations of the world to also fulfill the Global Goals by 2030.

The SDSN has just drafted an SDG Guide document. The Guide offers practical guidance on how to get started with implementing the 2030 Agenda, including how to measure current performance, convene a multi-stakeholder dialogue, and prepare a roadmap for the design of SDG strategies. It also provides a set of tools to support the design of sector- and goal-based strategies to achieve the SDGs.

The Guide has been written for citizens and civic groups as well as national and local policy makers responsible for thinking through the implementation of the SDG agenda. You can find it at: https://sdg.guide/why-a-guide-for-getting-started-ccda0d670cd2#.yg2n8khq2

I seek partners in guiding San Jose and the network of cities, as an Advocate of Humanity, in generating and maintaining the global context that is needed for the fulfillment of the promise of the SDGs for the world.
