Vacancies & Opportunities

Think of this as a noticeboard rather than a discussion board. And, in the spirit of Principle 6, I'm sure people posting something here will be very pleased if you can spread their info more widely.

A worker member (trouble-shooter) needed for Bradford Waste Chasers. Doing a £100K t/o in trade but don't have a smart phone between them, no advertising, no social media, no zoom etc. They're looking to recruit a worker who can lift them into the co-op difference and help save this fully operational but exhausted worker co-op. @Andrew Woodcock @Mark Simmonds (Co-op Culture & Platform 6) know anyone?? Would hate to see a fully trading worker co-op with contracts in place heading for the shredder. West Yorkshire-based worker members with a head for business get in touch with Vivien on [email protected]

Worker co-op Waste Chasers https://www.wastechasers.co.uk/ handle confidential data shredding, recycling paper waste, want to recruit a worker member who can also implement stronger co-op concepts across their small team. Based in Shipley, Bradford they pick-up from around West Yorkshire for small and large jobs. They have good contracts, t/over six figures but static, hardly ever advertise, make small surplus each year, would appreciate more worker-co-op values implemented there by a good worker co-op worker! Apply with your CV and email your interest / background to Vivien on [email protected]

Partnership Lead: Health, Social & Physical Activity Data @ Open Data Services Co-op (UK Remote)

Full job ad at https://app.beapplied.com/apply/bz8231edvm?utm_source=loomio

Open Data Services aims to make open data useful, usable and in-use. We like to work with projects that combine innovation and engagement to deliver sustainable social impact with open data.

We’re looking for people to join our interdisciplinary team working with data publishers and users. You’ll be supporting people working with data about human services and physical activities through Open Referral and Open Active, and exploring opportunities for this data to be put to use supporting social prescribing.

You’ll work with our clients and network to develop opportunities for us to work in these areas: building on our existing work and developing new areas to put this data to use. You’ll develop technical strategy, lead projects and foster a community around using data to promote wellbeing, community and health.

We are a workers co-operative. After your probationary period, you’ll have the option to become a co-operative member: gaining a stake in its future, and opportunities to develop new skills in co-operative business management.

As we are a remote working organisation we will consider applications from anywhere in the UK. You must have the right to live and work in the UK.

  • Salary: £43,120 (full-time equivalent) plus profit share and benefits.

  • Location: UK based, remote

  • Deadline for applying: 12:00pm BST, 9th Sept 2022

Developer roles at Open Data Services, UK Remote (Python Software Developer and Data Visualisation Web Developer)

We’re hiring two developer roles to join our interdisciplinary team, working with data publishers and users. To find out more about these roles and working at Open Data Services check out this twitter thread: https://twitter.com/opendatacoop/status/1539593415977050113

At Open Data Services, we aim to make open data useful, usable and in use. We like to work with projects that combine innovation and engagement to deliver sustainable social impact with open data. We work with transparency initiatives such as Open Contracting, 360 Giving, Open Ownership and the International Aid Transparency Initiative to provide tools and technical assistance to organisations across the world.

We believe in supporting the open data ecosystem. All our tools are open source, and we routinely reuse code across projects & publish our work on GitHub – so we can spend more time improving and tailoring our systems, rather than reinventing the wheel.

Normally our job ads have a paragraph about being a worker co-operative, but I think in this loomio that's assumed, and people don't need selling on the benefits!

We offer a training budget of £1,000 and 5 paid days per year, and are committed to supporting staff development, training and conference attendance. Our benefit package includes a health cash plan, group life insurance, generous parental leave, a health and wellbeing service that includes GP consultations and counselling, a cycle-to-work scheme, and an allowance for eye tests.

We particularly welcome applications from disabled, ethnic minority and women candidates as these groups are underrepresented in our organisation.

  • Salary: £43,120 (full-time equivalent) plus profit share and benefits.

  • Location: Remote, UK-only

  • Closing: 12:00pm, 18th Jul 2022 BST

  • Part-time (0.6 FTE and above) or full-time working.

Roles:

Data Visualisation Web Developer

Full job ad: https://app.beapplied.com/apply/lmczyo70ip?utm_source=cotechforum

Brief summary:

You’ll help us communicate data to a wide range of audiences: building data visualisations on the web using JavaScript, CSS and HTML (alongside frameworks such as Vue.js and libraries like D3.js). You’ll be building tools that help people understand their data quality, how useful their data is, and explore data in new ways that help them improve their grantmaking, research news stories, understand the impact of social investment, and more!

Python Software Developer

Full job ad: https://app.beapplied.com/apply/6cvrnot04p?utm_source=cotechforum

Brief summary:

You’ll be creating tools in Python (Django, Flask and command-line), that help people publish and use open data. We build transformers to convert data between formats, validators and quality tooling to help people understand their data, and pipelines to make data available in appropriate places and formats. We support some leading open data standards including 360Giving, BODS and Open Referral, and our tooling helps people collaborate around those standards.
