I'm using Loomio as a basis for a project/assignment for my community development subject. The context for which is discussing how social workers could use a Loomio platform to make consultation and policy planning/advocacy more participatory. One of the main first step for community development is gathering survey data about that community. Usually this is done from a rather top down approach and the data guides the social workers but doesn't make it back to the 'clients'.
It would be great as part of the discussion Loomio could have a simple survey feature. Even just like having proposition poll but with editable tag names (so replacing yes, no, etc, with survey answers). The assignment aside, the benefits of a survey which was openly viewable would be:
- Visualising relevant data about the group which could inform the decision making process.
- Refining proposals.
- Surveys about that group allows for a reflexive group.
A hypothetical example could be working out what day best suits most members of a group to have a physical meeting. - A survey asking what days/time most free could inform when the meeting takes place.
From those meeting a proposal to make a community garden is made and agreed upon in loomio, however there isn't a clear consensus on how to schedule access and allotment of plots but a few ideas have been tossed around. - The social worker who facilitated the IRL meeting creates a survey asking which of the suggesting is most popular from the suggesting made at the meeting.
I understand this can be done through the discussion board but having the responses in a list of comment makes the information less accessible.
Anyway, just an idea.
