Loomio

Why no hashtags in Loomio?

Please, what's the thinking behind the obvious absence of hashtags in Loomio? I ask, because I do find find Loomio less searchable than I would like - it's so easy to forget where you saw that really interesting comment by so&so. In this thread I'm asking for searching down to comment level rather than thread level. But what about the now near-universal practice of tagging?

Folks . . . are you generally happy with your ability to find things again in Loomio when threads get long, discussion get tangled, memes pop up in numerous places . . . and you find that that particular memory braincell has died?

I'd like to add them.

You don't need to notify everyone in the product group when you start discussions like this. I get that we do to do something further with the UX here but I'd appreciate it if you don't do it in the meantime.

I do appreciate that the full membership of the group is an unneccesarily large of people to invite. Pardon me. However, I don't know which specific individuals to invite to explore a roadmap question like this? Could there be a group @name for Loomio devs, which can be invited when when asking a question like this? As a standard option in the new-thread invitations drop-down list, maybe? I'd be glad not to be bugging you or James specifically, who are the only two developers whose IDs I happen to know.

Pleased to know that hashtags are a recognised feature, somewhere down the line :)

Just start the thread in the group, people will see it and participate if they're interested

Firstly, have you tried just using a standard keyword search? I would appreciate being able to narrow a search to a group, subgroup, or even thread, but the native search function can be remarkably powerful, even as it is. Also, have you tried hashtagging keywords and then searching them? For example, type #hashtag in a comment and then do a search for "#hashtag"?

I had thought of ‘faking’ hashtags as you suggest Strypey. But hadn’t tried it. Thanks for reminding me.
