Brian to continue as lead on finances

JN Jez Nicholson Public Seen by 184

Brian is standing down as a Director at the next AGM and suggests that if the new board agrees he continues to run the finances. It makes sense as he is local to the accountants and we won't have to change bank details.

I'm not sure, but I'm mostly in favour... in practise it's a good idea as Brian has demonstrated expertise and we trust him, but in principle as Directors we are liable for the finances of the CIC, and if Brian isn't a Director then he isn't liable - is that an issue and if so, how can we make it not an issue?

A named Director should also take formal responsibility. This is not a bad thing separating nitty gritty book-keeping from overall financial picture often benefits both aspects.

NB: when the bank account was opened, the bank issued us with 5 of the dongles they use to protect access to online banking, one for each director, but we decided not to distribute them all. Several of these remain unused and could be passed on to other directors so they can keep an eye on the transactions.
