2020 Social.coop Strategy Summit

MC Matthew Cropp Public Seen by 136

At the recent meeting to discuss the formation of the Coordination Working Group, we decided that, as developing and monitoring our co-op's strategic direction will be a core task, it'd be good to launch its work with a co-op-wide strategizing process.

So, the Community Working Group Ops Team will schedule a 90 minute "strategy summit" for late summer and, in the meantime, will work to develop some asynchronous processes to collect ideas and aspirations from as many members as possible to inform the work done during the live call.

We'll use this thread for communicating logistics and sharing the ways in which members can weigh in prior to the "summit".

Was really inspired by the Strategy Session I attended. Depending on how my work week shakes out, I'm hoping to attend this follow-up!

As a follow-up to the recent "Strategy Session" calls, we're convening a 90 minute call to follow up on a few of the themes that emerged from those discussions. The key agenda items identified by the CWG Operations Team include:

  • Discussion of how we should enter into alliances with other organizations, with an eye towards developing a framework into a proposal that can guide our relationships with partner organizations going forward.

  • Discussion of how to best keep members engaged with strategic conversations on an ongoing basis, and potentially developing a proposal for a regular meeting pattern.

  • Discussion of potential approaches to vetting, managing and providing new services, and how we should approach managing member access as we add them.

Scheduling a Strategy Sessions Follow-Up Call Closed Thu 22 Oct 2020 8:02PM

Outcome
by Matthew Cropp Mon 26 Oct 2020 1:59AM

It looks like Wednesday, 11/11 at 4pm EST/9pm GMT will work for the most folks, so let's plan on that. I'll follow up shortly with a check poll to collect RSVPs and share the meeting link.

As a follow-up to the recent "Strategy Session" calls, we're going to aim to convene a 90 minute call in mid-November to follow up on a few of the themes that emerged from those discussions.

Please respond with the dates/times that would work best for you, and we'll aim to meet at the most mutually workable time.

Well, we had two very useful strategy discussions. The next step is to summarize the excellent notes taken by Matt C and Mica. Maybe this could be a task for the Community Working Group?

I'm totally overloaded at the moment with the frantic and chaotic start to a very strange academic year. But I will read the minutes from the summits with interest..

They seem to be at the bottom of the Agenda disroot pad, here: https://pad.disroot.org/p/Social.Coop_Strategy_Summit_%231

Not sure if there is a more "processed" or summarized version of the notes, @Mica Fisher might know (she took the excellent original notes).

Are there any notes/minutes from the first summit session available somewhere?

Inspired by the glory of yesterday's summit, I have just founded the Social.coop Revolutionary Vanguard Insurgency, or #SCRVI. Please join us! https://www.loomio.org/g/Ru5jHWBU/
