  1. Our use of twitter is an endorsement of twitter
  2. We cannot rely on it as a platform for free speech.
  3. There is already documented cases of censorship.
  4. We should be promoting decentralized replacements like mastodon

We don't have a consensus, so our options are 1. Modify the proposal and try to find consensus 2. Try the same proposal among associates and finally refer it to permanent members.

We should stop endorsing this platform for censorship and promote decentralized replacements like Mastodon.

Reaching to the masses is first priority. But we use Mastodon for most. And promote Mastodon through it. Like for more details come here.

While we should promote democratic decentralized alternatives, leaving the platform as a whole is not a loss for the platform, but for us for losing a place to speak out.
I rather think of Facebook and twitter as a privately owned marketplace. While the place sucks, leaving it, just means that those potential audiences in these platforms never find us; Instead, if we keep a handle there, if so even just to promote alternatives, that might be better, in my opinion.

I do agree and as per my knowledge, it has recently come up in lot of articles regarding censorship, etc. At the same time, I think that twitter is also a means to reach out to a greater audience. Although it might not align to our ideas, but why not use it to our advantage. E.g., promoting twitter followers to move to other decentralized platform. I haven't heard of Mastodon, same would apply to others as well. We should probably phase out of twitter instead of suddenly deleting.

@ranjithsiji @gounder are you saying we need to care about only what benefits us even at the cost of damange to entire humanity? Or do you disagree about harms by twitter to free speech?

The question is do we need to reach out to more people. OR. we want to reach to the people who only care about free speech. DO we need to reach to people who don't know the damage and benefit of free speech. I think we need a migration plan.

I am saying let's not jump the gun and delete things so fast, we may need the platform to reach masses, we can't bring change within our comfort zones.

We could probably keep the account in twitter pointing a pinned tweet towards mastodon
