Should we create an official QGIS blog
Proposal is to host it on Wordpress.com but with domain of http://blog.qgis.org at a cost of USD 13 per year. We would add the blog to the QGIS planet feed too.

I'm also a bit concerned about the maintenance. But if someone steps up and does it, it will be fine

It's great if others can co-maintain it along with their existing wordpress/blogs. Cool.

I can keep an eye on it besides my own blog

I run qgis.nl wordpress server myself too. With a plugin which only accepts real comments or I have to approve them.
Actually never have issues with it...
So my guess is/was that there is not much maintance work for us, only write articles/announcements for it...

I registered qgisblog.wordpress.com since qgis.wordpress.com and qgisorg.wordpress.com seem to be taken already.

Anita: maybe we could friendly ask the owner of qgis.wordpress.com if we could take over this address. It seems to be registered on behalf of QGIS indonesia, but there doesn't seem to be activity.

I can try to comment and ask on the blog but don't know how else to reach the owner.

yeah, please do. That was my idea to. I asked Tim already if he knew this peron maybe from Jakarta or a QGIS meeting there.
If all fails we could even ask wordpress.com for her/his email as it is a slight trademark breach. But I prefer NOT to do this. It is imminent that is it not used

I'm worried about it maintenance. Having another piece of infrastructure without a proper manager will not give a good impressiion.
If someone is willing to maintain it, it's a +1, if not, 0.
Thanks!
