Physiotherapy Protocol for e-NABLE Prosthetics

EL Everton Lins Public Seen by 357

In a meeting today with a physioterapist (that now is a volunteer) about volunteer activities on the Chapter this was the mostr importante question.

Does any e-NABLE hand/arm have a physiotherapy protocol?

A Physiotherapy Protocol is a document with activities, exercices, steps and processes that a reabilitation professional like a physiotherapist or ocupational therapist need to follow in order to get not only the best of a prosthetic in therms of rehabilitation but also guarantee that the prosthetic will cause no harm.

If we have one, we can use it as base to guide the preparation of volunteers in this area of expertise.

If not, I already have this physioterapist onboard to work on a project to create one with the team he works at a local hospital (Unimed Caruaru)

Do you know if we have a Physiotherapy Protocol for e-NABLE hand or arm?

If not, should we go on with this initiative?

Thank you!

We do not have anything like that. But it would be a good thing. We plan to (re)create a Medical Advisory Board soon. This person might be great.

I can see this being a great help to our volunteer base since we all are acting as "therapists" for the clients we present hands to. Being versed in ways to assist clients who are new to our hands will increase their success, but also train volunteers to look for specific ways to improve future designs.
