I'm Bruce Caron. I'm the Community Architect for ESIP (Earth Science Information Partners). I'm interested in moving science back/forward to an open-sharing economy.

Stéphanie Girardclos Tue 7 Nov 2017 8:12AM

I'm Stéphanie Girardclos. I research interactions between geological processes and the human society using lake sediments as archives of the past - with an emphasis on the geology of the Anthropocene and lacustrine tsunamis.
I'm a senior lecturer at the University of Geneva, teaching to Earth science students but also to students with social sciences background - thus working hard to improve my interdisciplinarity skills.
Besides these scientific+teaching interests, I really aim to increase equity, open access and good practice in the academia!

Hi all, I’m Sara Bosshart. I have a research background in paleoceanography and have been working in publishing for the past couple of years. First for Frontiers and now as the Open Access Publisher for IWA Publishing. I’m a huge proponent of ‘Openness’ and easy, global access to knowledge and research!

Hi all, I am Angelo Rossi (although Chris somehow always calls me by last name ;) ) . I am a planetary geologist. In my topical neighbourhood I try to promote open practices (including data/code/tools) with/within http://openplanetary.co

Hi all, I'm another Chris it seems. I can go by Christine if that makes it easier. I literally defended my PhD in geophysics/remote sensing last week, at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. My work's on wildfire remote sensing and my wider interest center around circum-polar landscapes with a data science slant. I find it relatively easy to open-source code libraries and tools but am a beginner when it comes to open publication practices.

Jamie Farquharson Thu 9 Nov 2017 9:26AM

Hi everyone,
I'm Jamie Farquharson. My research background is in volcanology, especially the experimental side of things. I am (like everyone here, I guess) an advocate of open access research, and have been pushing for this in my field. I am also involved in the start-up of a free open-access journal.

Daniel Ibarra Thu 9 Nov 2017 11:34PM

Hi everyone, I am a graduate student at Stanford University in California. I will be defending my PhD next spring and hoping to stay in the area for a postdoc. I am an isotope geochemist and work on terrestrial paleoclimate and silicate weathering. I'm excited to promote EarthArXiv and happy to help out in any way possible. If anyone is at AGU this year in New Orleans it would be fun to meet up!

Han Geurdes Fri 10 Nov 2017 8:42PM

Hi. My name is Han Geurdes. Thanks for inviting me to the EarthArxiv loomio group. I work in hydrology related data science. Have my own small company. Studying at this moment the possibility to enter the international market & reading a great, somewhat old, mathematical book about convex sets and multifunctions. The latter adds to my possibilities of creating new algorithms (think differential interval equations) that are useful in the hydro domain.

Divyesh Varade Sat 11 Nov 2017 8:53AM

Hello everyone, I am Divyesh Varade a Ph.D. student at the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. My expertise is in remote sensing. My research includes characterization of snow cover using multisensor data, which also includes quantitative estimation of snow geophysical parameters based on multispectral and polarimetric SAR data. I am also interested in the application of machine learning techniques for EO applications. I will be defending my thesis in summer next year and thereafter be seeking postdoc opportunities.
