Mission Statement

KB Katie Butterfield Public Seen by 156

Attached is a draft of a mission statement for the group. Include comments/suggestions below and I'll work to incorporate them by Friday (8/23) afternoon for posting on the website. We can continue to revise after that as well as needed. Feel free to edit in the google doc if you would like also.

Here is the text as it stands today:
"The mission of the (California Economies Working Group) is to promote diverse aspects of community well-being as measures of economic health. We are a group of University of California students pushing the University system and the state towards community-centered economic development and governance in various sectors, including education, housing, land-use, water systems, food systems, energy, and waste. We support policies and practices that uplift community wealth, health, relationships, and sovereignty."

Ok, here's what I've come up with at this point; there's more details in the Google doc. Please feel free to make any changes you'd like. Unfortunately, I've had a family emergency come up that will prevent me from working more on this in the next few days, but I'm happy with whatever form of this you'd all like to move forward with. Thanks again for the great suggestions!

"The mission of the (California Economies Working Group) is to promote community and ecological well-being as the primary measures of economic health. We are a group of students from across the ten University of California campuses pushing our University and the state of California towards community-centered wealth-building and democratic governance in various sectors, such as education, housing, land-use, water, food, energy, and waste systems. We press for the inclusion of multilingual and multiracial histories and cultures within the state of California, the fifth largest economy in the world, through collective and democratic management of its resources, especially those of the largest employer in the state, the University of California. We support policies and practices that strengthen community wealth, health, relationships, and sovereignty."
