Approve applications to join CoTech

CLF Chris Lowis (Go Free Range) Public Seen by 83

Hi folks,

Common Knowledge have applied to join CoTech. Here's what James has to say by way of introduction:

> Common Knowledge is a workers cooperative focused on building tech
> products and infrastructure for grassroots, political and community
> organising.
>
> The co-op was founded to fix a critical problem of lack of technological
> capacity, experience and purpose-built political tech products in the
> progressive space.
>
> We are committed to helping build autonomous movements and
> communities of hopeful and inspired political actors confident in their
> ability to act, represent their own interests and build power in their
> communities.
>
> Common Knowledge builds political tech products, partners with
> organisations, provides technical expertise, training and consultancy to
> political organisations, unions and local government.
>
> We are a strong interdisciplinary team bringing together political, design,
> technical and academic experience garnered from years of organising,
> campaigning, building teams and tools and mobilising communities. The
> members of our team, individually and collectively, have made a
> significant impact on the political fabric of the UK.

Although we don't ask co-ops to provide their articles of association as a condition of joining, Common Knowledge have graciously provided theirs (attached).

This proposal is a members vote as per our constitution and will run for 7 days. It will pass if there are no disagreement or block votes. One vote per co-op please, and do take time to participate if you can, as well as strengthening our governance it's also an opportunity for Common Knowledge to see some of the other CoTech co-ops who actively participate in the network.

On behalf of Outlandish - Excited to see Common Knowledge join the network. Outlandish knows some of the members already from various projects, and they've already been actively engaging with Space4 projects. Confident they'll be a great asset!

We've got another application to join CoTech, this is from Founders and Coders alumni: InFact. Here are some details from them:

We are InFact Digital Co-operative, a small digital and creative agency with a razor-sharp focus: to work with charities, non-profits and businesses to provide digital answers to their organisational problems. Comprised of a diverse group of designers, developers, and web professionals, we believe in the power of technology and design to act as a force for social good. Our industry is saturated with companies who market themselves as "disrupters" and "innovators" — with the newest and shiniest fad tech, with astronomical and unsustainable rates of growth, with data harvesting and corporate interests winning out against civil liberties. But we've seen this script before, and we think there's a better way.

We came to the internet believing in its power to act as a free, open site for discussion and exchange across borders, and its potential for social good beyond profit. We think we are at our best to leverage this power as a workers' co-operative. We are at the same time workers, directors, accountants, strategists, product managers, designers and developers, sometimes donning several of these hats simultaneously. Most of all we value the autonomy and decision-making power we have over our work lives, getting to shape them according to our own vision and values and make a space for ourselves to work in that is inspiring, supportive and enjoyable.

Niftily copied from the last proposal: This proposal is a members vote as per our constitution and will run for 7 days. It will pass if there are no disagreement or block votes. One vote per co-op please, and do take time to participate if you can, as well as strengthening our governance it's also an opportunity for Common Knowledge to see some of the other CoTech co-ops who actively participate in the network.

Just for due diligence, could you @kayleighwalsh or someone document that InFact meet our official criteria? I would also find it helpful to see their web site, to check on the image they put across to the public. Thanks.

Website: https://www.infactcoop.com
Governing doc: See Companies ouse - they are are worker co-op using a CLG legal form - the governing document is clear and includes explicit reference to the internationally agreed values and principles. For me that makes them very clearly eligible. Incorporated on March 20th.
