New Directors

R RobJN Public Seen by 31

As per our Articles of Association all Directors will stand down at the first meeting so that we can hold full elections. Current Directors may stand for election as can members of the Company.

Please use this thread to start discussing if you intend to stand for election.

I'm one of the founding Directors and I'd like to put myself forward to be (re)elected. I'll add a brief bio / manifesto later today.

Thank you for the reminder Jon. Sorry for the delay everyone else.

I'm a web developer by trade, I've also done some OSM and open data consultancy.
I started mapping around OSM around 2006/2007, meeting others was certainly key to getting me into it and later hooked.
My blog LivingWithDragons.com started as a story of exploring/surveying a blank space on our map when I moved 300 miles to Durham.
I've done a number of talks and led Missing Maps workshops around the UK, and also a little parody map singing.
In recent years I've been on the State of the Map(SotM) working group. Being MC for SotM 2016 in Brussels I encouraged people to chat and make friends during the breaks. I did this myself, and asked people about their experiences so far of the conference. People really appreciated being individually asked by the visual lead of the conference, and it was an honour to do the asking. I was also the SotM Code of Conduct lead, which led to further interactions and reinforcing assurances that every individual's contribution is valued.

My OSM UK board focus would be on the individual memberships. I would like to be able to welcome each person personally (by e-mail) when they join or when they have a query. I'm not sure how it will scale in time, but I think it would be great if every OSM UK member has met a (current or former) board member at an in-person event or at least to have exchanged a number of messages with one of them. Directors will change, so this will be a sign that our community is one with personal relationships.
I'd also like to look at how we could better link Missing Maps (humanitarian) contributors to the general OSM UK community. This isn't to say everyone has to make local map contributions.
