Proposal: Money and Care Meeting

TB Toni Blanco Public Seen by 5

Building on Ronen's previous proposal, I would like to propose that we use our sandbox time on Thursday, December 9th to meet and talk about money and care.

Earning money in a meaningful way, and do it surrounded by a caring team, are two central issues (if not promises) of microsolidarity. I think that discussing how they impact or are involved in a generative process to crewing will help us to sense the Whole and envision the right sequence of the generative process. On the other hand, and taking into account the fragility of the usual crewing attempts, checking on the expectations on our current experimental process can inform drivers to crew in a robust (if not antifragile) way.

The initial proposal to discuss is:

  1. Where are you personally in terms of money and care? How do you feel about where you are? Where would you like to be? In what sense all that motivated joining the Microsolidarity Loomio group in the first place, and this crew later on?

  2. How is specifically our work here affecting (if any) money and care in your life nowadays? In which way or ways you envision it could impact your life regarding money and care in the future?

  3. From the present moment, informed by the time we've shared together in this crew, what do you envision emerging from our work together (long term, beyond the current cycle)? Are you open to the possibility of this crew implementing the generative process? In which conditions? More importantly (via negativa), what are the "no-gos"?

I would also like to propose starting an hour earlier and allowing space (if needed) for up to a 3 hour gathering. So 13:00 - 16:00 UTC.

Please replay this post to respond to the proposal to meet, and to the suggested time frame (duration and date).

I'm all for doing this during sandbox time next week! My one constraint is that I'm not able to meet any earlier than our current start time (14:00 UTC) as I have morning family obligations up until that point (14:00 UTC is 9 am here, the start of when I can get to work on things on my own!) However, I could make time after sandbox time if we'd like to go beyond 2 hours. In other words, I could do 14:00-17:00 UTC but not 13:00-16:00 UTC. Thanks Toni for taking the stick!

That works for me and I can also accommodate @Alex Rodriguez by extending the meeting gathering later rather than earlier so 14:00 - 17:00 UTC

14:00-17:00 UTC works for me too.

I'm down for meeting next Thursday (Dec 10th right?) around these topics as well; the only thing is I have a call with NonProfit Ventures at 5pm CET (4pm UTC) which means I can only do 2hrs of call time if we are to go ahead then. I'm happy to do the 3hrs on another date (say the week after on the 17th), I've had to bounce the meeting once already so feel it would be bad form to do it again.

Outside that though I'm all go on this gathering ;)

OK so I made a proposal for meeting this week just to make sure we're all on the same page.

Unfortunately I won't be available during sandbox time on 12/17 as I'll be in a virtual board retreat for Bhumisparsha that day. The rest of the month is pretty flexible for me though, including both sandbox times on 12/24 and 12/31

  1. I suggest we convene on the 9th for 1h45m to respect Josh's space and transition..

  2. I suggest we be attentive to the time and if necessary allow for another gathering the following week.

  3. I think that the first two questions can be treated as one part and the third question as a second part ... and, depending on how the gathering goes, leave question 3 to another gathering. I have a feeling that space (a week) between the two parts may be beneficial for digesting and maturation ... fermentation :)

  4. @Toni Blanco if you wish to, in writing, or in opening the gathering (or not at all!), I would be happy to learn about what in our 1-on-1 conversation, or ripples from it, affected you and made you change your sense of the unfolding wholeness from what you thought needed tending to the subject of money & care.

@Ronen Hirsch It took me some time to get an answer to this question. I think that after our talk, I left behind my concern about this talk being mostly another kind of "escape". On the one hand, I already have a rough idea of where each of us is in terms of money and care, and on the other hand, it feels so disconnected from the sort of "phenomenological" generative process you drafted. I see better now the implications of talking about money and care not in general terms but regarding our present cycle and an eventual future cycle in which our ideas could be implemented. Regarding what of our conversation affected me in that sense, I think that was those moments in which we stepped into concrete examples of the hypothetical implementation of the generative process. Which is quite interesting. And also, the part in which we talked about the necessity of some departing conditions to a particular generative process succeed.

Overall, I think that the conversation helped me to connect with you as the "source", and with the idea that triggered your invitation to crew. I will try to reflect that in the orientation post.

It's a date!

Making this into a proposal to finalize the details!

If everyone consents to this proposal, we'll convene around the topic of "money and care" from 14:00-15:45 UTC on Thursday, December 10. More specifically, we'll address the questions @Toni Blanco raised in the post above:

  • Where are you personally in terms of money and care? How do you feel about where you are? Where would you like to be? In what sense all that motivated joining the Microsolidarity Loomio group in the first place, and this crew later on?

  • How is specifically our work here affecting (if any) money and care in your life nowadays? In which way or ways you envision it could impact your life regarding money and care in the future?

And, if there's time, we can also touch on:

  • From the present moment, informed by the time we've shared together in this crew, what do you envision emerging from our work together (long term, beyond the current cycle)? Are you open to the possibility of this crew implementing the generative process? In which conditions? More importantly (via negativa), what are the "no-gos"?
