Decide on CRM solution and hosting

K Kay Public Seen by 197

Hello Unicorns! Our lovely Dani requested an addition to our toolbox - she desires a CRM (custom relationship management) application to better track onboarding and partnerships. Both of us have been looking into different options and - also asking Dani here - Kay recommends the following configuration:

Software - SuiteCRM - self-hosted open source CRM solution (https://suitecrm.com/)
Deploy Management - Bitnami - quickly deploy self-hosted applications - (https://bitnami.com/)
Hosting - Google Compute - 300$ (yearly cost) is given on signup

So this solution is free for the first year and then will be approximately 300$ which is pretty good compared to other hosting/software solutions for CRM.

If we decide on yes - Kay will go forward with deploy and setting up.

Ok. I deployed SuiteCRM on Bitnami.

If you want access please PM @geleeroyale.

Here is the entry point - https://crm.giveth.io

The actual cost might be different than in the first approximation - so lets evaluate this solution together if we really want to use it longterm and should it become too expensive we always have the option to change hosting since we have access to all neccessary functions for migrating the database.

That we should investigate CRM solutions? Seems reasonable but I must say from experience it's hard because of integrations - unless it's to be entirely manual data entry. I use the free version of streak for Gmail but it won't plug into riot on my phone ;)

Seems fine and the price is good. The only issue I'd raise is how might this fit in with other apps people are using. Also there is another CRM open source designed specifically for not for profits called https://civicrm.org/ - maybe worth reviewing before making a final determination.

Thank you papa Kay! And.. Anonymous? I forgot about CiviCRM.. they are open source as well, and have extensive user documentation as well as developer resources which is great, plus, their mission and language appear more aligned with us than the sales-focused SuiteCRM. Most CRM solutions have a data import for text files that maps fields with a little thoughtful strategy upfront for how we collect data in forms.

cant beat free for the first year.... i assume this is so that multiple people can have access to the database to upload connections... this will also have to include some sort of training/onboarding right?
