Promotion / Buzz

F Flaburgan Public Seen by 95

The v0.1.0.0 is coming soon, I think it could be great to promote it when it will be out, by writing a post per day using the DiasporaHQ account presenting a feature / awesome bug fix.

I think in general we do not use enough the DiasporaHQ account. I'd like to see more people with access to it, for example @Goob. We should create a little buzz for this new version, and try to interact more with our users.

@flaburgan the time to create buzz is now, ahead of release, so you could post now something simple like:

'Diaspora v0.1.0.0 is coming very soon, with some fantastic new features! Watch this space for news...'

and then, when the version is rolled out, post the one with the list of features, and then the individual feature posts after that.

@goob I modified the wiki adding the image and your text instead of the list of features. I already posted it in french from my account, if someone has access to DiasporaHQ account, it's time to use it :D

(not sure someone else than @seantilleycommunit has it)

@flaburgan OK, good idea. In that case, if you want to 'tease', I'd suggest removing the link to the changelog, and not give any details until the update is actually released and the details are announced.

@goob have you access to the diasporaHQ account or @seanmcarthur didn't share it for the moment?

Sean, write the post directly from DiasporaHQ instead of doing a reshare is better, please do it or share the access :)

I don't have access, but Sean has been talking on another proposal about giving access to several other people.

I've just seen that v0.1.0.0 has now been released, so I guess now we can stop 'teasing' and give people the details.

I've just created a new post on your wiki page, for the 'pre-release teaser', and have re-inserted the feature details on the main announcement post so that now it is here, we can tell people what it's actually bringing them.

@flaburgan I got it, give me a message to overhand the account to the promotion team https://alpha.app.net/diaspora

Okay, we've got buzz going. I've made the announcement post on DiasporaHQ, and handed off access to Fla and Goob for the DiasporaHQ account that is actually on Diaspora. If anyone would like to help with:

  • Twitter
  • Identica
  • Facebook
  • AppNet (I guess we have one now)

Please let me know! :)

Sean gave me and goob the access, we can now post from DiasporaHQ. I think most posts / announces / etc should be prepared in the wiki like we did for the release. That way, it will really be the community which will post.

Great stuff guys!

I added our social media accounts to the project assets page: http://wiki.diaspora-project.org/wiki/Project_assets .. Can we keep it up to date so it's easy to see who owns what and who has access where?

I created a Google+ account (https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/115328962471049657723) - will add some content and give access to whoever wants - Sean's G+ ID I have.
