Trans-Local Entrepreneur Forum (prototype distributed event)

NM Nenad Maljković Public Seen by 63

As dicussed briefly in Public Noticeboard (and probably unnoticed by many), here's more information about Trans-Local Entrepreneur Forum we are organising in REconomy practitioners virtual community of practice (see attached links).

The team will meet soon - let me know if you are interested to join us as potential collaborator and contributor from your local community

@nmaljkovic I suggest you post this on social media/Facebook groups too (like the P2P Facebook group)

Been pushing www.rochdalestrongertogether.org.uk for last three years - made significant inroads. But when coming to get the programme manager role paid, its proved too taxing. I'd love to get stuck into Trans-Local Entrepreneur Forum as it's exactly what Rochdale Stronger Together stands for, however without the local/regional support needed coming forward, it's likely to slide backwards into obscurity. For sure I can't keep pushing it in its current form without financial commitment.

How do you define a "trans-local project"? What are the key benefits/outcomes of a Local Entrepreneurs' Forum?

Have you checked all three attachments? There's more about LEFs on Totnes REconomy Center's website.

I'm not sure what do you mean by "trans-local project". "Trans-local" in this case means that the event happens simultaneously in several local communites.

More about LEFs also in this article by Jay Tompt: https://medium.com/virtual-teams-for-systemic-change/citizen-led-economic-transition-a-four-point-framework-for-guiding-action-f54acc2525c7

Yes, I've looked at the linked docs.I understand what a LEF is. I can see how it can add value, but I'm interested to learn more about what that value is after 8 years of experience in running these events. The best I can find about benefits and outcomes of the LEF model is a 2017 report which, while helpful, appears focussed only on the Totnes project.

The Gdoc that sets out the brief for this proposed event talks about having a number of "trans-local projects" pitching at it, and cites just two, both which appear to be intrinsic to the event itself, so I was just reaching out to find out a bit more about what a the organisers are looking for in a "trans-local project" - i.e. what they think it is, and how one might nominate such a project to pitch at the event, and what sort of support might be available as a result of the pitch.

Thanks. Two reasons for my interest: one is simply to learn more about the real impacts of running a LEF - I'm considering doing something along these lines in my locality - and two because I'm a co-founder of a social care co-operative that might be considered a "trans-local project" and might be something the proposed event could be interested in. Having said that of course, we're based in Yorkshire and nowhere near any of the localities that you've identified, but then again I guess that's part of the value of having something that is a mix of online and offline?

Don't have high expectation of this - it's an experiment. Just sayin'

Sure. I have no expectations at this point. Simply seeking understanding.
