Should the Internet Party stand in the Northland by-election?

DU Maelwryth Public Seen by 131

With the resignation of Mike Sabin as the Northland MP, should the Internet Party stand a candidate in the by-election?

It was purely by accident that I found this post. I then clicked on ;users who have not yet decided' under the voting bit. Woahhh... who are all these people, and is it possible to send an @ message to all of them to make it appear in their email?

Only through long periods of typing, unfortunately the usernames aren't in the @ format. You could of course go; in order of appearence......
@vikram @fandango123 @liamenorca etc....in fact that might be a good idea. If we split it up it wouldn't take long. Start a discussion, start a decision, copy the undecided, and delegate the undecided in groups of ten to whoever appears. Excellent hack :)

Do you want to do it? I can cut them into blocks of fifty or so easily.

@tane I can email you the first 100. Done in a spreadsheet with name and @tag. Or... it looks like I can attach a file here, but that is fairly vulnerable.

We should also make sure that the other anti National coalition partners don't @#!@ this up, and that they play together against National. It is very likely National will keep this seat, so we should play it smart, and at least have a fighting chance. If everyone who has friends and relatives in Northland, from whichever party, should tell them to vote Labour, National might not keep this seat.

What would be even more interesting would be if you could get to withdraw and field only the one candidate (look at the support for Willow-Jean LAB 8,969). If that is not acceptable to Greens and others, lobby Willow-Jean to also withdraw and give her support to an incumbent such as myself ;) I would move to Northland. I love the environment, people, fishing, and diving up there, and I know a few locals...

It's not out of the question as I am also a member of the Labour party and maybe even the Greens (I sign up when despondent) didn't see that being so useful for the Internet party did you?

Does anyone have a good connection to, or friends who have good connections to, the other Northland candidates, or leaders fielding candidates in the last Northland election, then message me!

Also, does anyone know if it is within by election law to have other candidates withdraw and/or field an incumbent? Even if that incumbent must be for a party that stood, in this electorate, like the Labour party, I would assure the Internet party I would maintain my membership and principles outlined at my blog http://theoccupyparty.wordpress.com

Lending support to my argument about only fielding the Labour candidate, or for lack of a consensus, me

Yes - @jamesabbott it does make sense to consolidate the vote - I still agree with the moot - with minor tweak: we should stand (behind) a candidate in the Northland by-election
