Help needed: Running an event webpage

Hi all. We could do with a simple page on the osmuk.org website with some basic details on how to run an event. Do you have a few minutes to draft some text and paste it here? As a tip: On the website we are trying not to re-invent the wheel. If a good resource already exists we are linking to it.

There is some help on the Missing Maps site. You could link to that: https://www.missingmaps.org/host/

There's an ancient wiki page https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapping_Weekend_Howto which... I'm not sure how useful it is, but I used a particular section on there: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapping_Weekend_Howto#Internet_Promotion to maintain a list of 3rd party websites (such as meetup.com) for listing an event. Hopefully that's useful

But despite all the alternatives, for a long time I felt like none of them really nailed it as a good place for event listings to live ...until maybe...

Anyone used http://osmcal.org yet? Appeared in 2019 and seems very nice. I was going to give that a go for the next (post virus) OSMLondon event
